Wax Poetics:

“DJ, producer, and remixer Hint is known for dropping downtempo beats and grooves contrasted against future dance-floor bombs. Hint has accomplished his skills as a producer and composer across a range of styles he loves, from hip-hop to fiery soul.

Hint has been a good friend of Tru Thoughts for many a year now. He was first found on Tru Thoughts (while signed to Ninja Tune) on the Shapes One compilation with a track called “Back to the Wig,” which was a nod to the club night that Tru Thoughts label boss Robert Luis ran in Brighton back in the day.

After a brief break in releases, Hint decided to pursue a more club-friendly direction. He released his first EP on Tru Thoughts, The Tremmuh, in 2005, followed byDriven By Distraction in 2008 with a focus on the dub-step, hip-hop and big bass-line tip.

A master of many trades, Hint’s DJ sets take in hip-hop, house, drum n bass, dancehall, electro, garage, breakbeat, and disco, piecing them together like a diligent jigsaw enthusiast and never losing the flow of their feet.

As of late, he is known as the master remixer–reworking tracks from many Tru Thoughts label mates such as BellerucheKylie Auldistthe Hot 8 Brass BandMe & You, and Flevans. Expect to be hearing a whole lot more about Hint in the very near future.”
