Emerging Chi-town rapper Phly caught our ears with two singles from his stash. The rapper is a US army vet who completed 2 enlistments and deployment to Afghanistan and now he is back to fully focus on his music career.

The first record titled “Jokers and Aces” is Phly in his bravado mindstate as he goes for the jugular over a soothing and moody backdrop. He delivers a fiery performance laced with couplets, vivid bars, and the right emotion to match. It is pretty much a showcase of skill for the rapper who wants listeners to take him seriously.

The second cut “Heat” takes a slightly different approach and sees Phly crafting a fun song draped in his usual bravado and confident nature. From the smooth flows and well-crafted lines like “Fly as hell, hop out/Look at my feet, heat/You already know what’s up under my feet, heat/You already know what’s coming out my speakers, heat!” we get a sense of relaxation in the rapper. He takes time to focus on himself and build his work ethic while trying to avoid distractions at all costs on this one.
