Ex-Fugees member Wyclef Jean was shot in the hand at 11pm last night near the Haitian capital of Port-au-Prince.
Luckily for him and his fans, there’s seems to be no major injuries suffered as a result of the shooting. His representatives recently announce on Twitter: “We have spoken to Wyclef, he is ok. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers – Management.”
Clef was visiting Haiti with longterm friend, Busta Rhymes, to support presidential candidate Michel Martelly in an election campaign. While driving near the country’s capital, Port-au-Prince, their car was attacked in a barrage of gunfire.
No other passengers are reported to have been injured in the incident.
Last year, Jean was himself a presidential hopeful, but was ruled ineligible to run for office after failing to meet 5-year residency criteria.
Sorry, but my initial reaction to this story was, “Well it looks like Wyclef’s about to go platinum with his next album.” Shootings do wonders for a rapper’s career. Especially fatal ones. Thankfully this one was not fatal.
There’s definitely been some strange goings on in the Hip Hop world recently.
