UK/Ghanaian singer/songwriter Nectar Woode grew up in an artistic home courtesy of her saxophonist father and artist/fashion-cutter mother before moving to London and immersing himself in a community of jazz musicians. Her latest release “God Talks Back” serves as a precursor to her forthcoming EP and gives listeners a taste of what she has in store. The jazz-soul-infused record has a warm and sublime soundscape with soft head-nodding drum grooves and rich textures underpinned by Nectar’s distinct melodic runs. The record takes us through a journey of pursuing someone you are attracted to and following that instinct to make the first move. Beyond that, it also talks about following one’s inner spirit regardless of the outcome because you miss 100% of the shots you don’t take.
“God Talks Back” is the forerunner to Nectrar Woode’s debut EP which will be released in February 2024 via Communion.
Elsewhere, she’s hosted her own Guest Hour on Foundation FM, as well as being named Jack Saunders’ Next Wave on his BBC Radio 1 Future Artists show, plus further support coming in from Sian Eleri, Elton John and Zane Lowe. She recently found herself on a billboard in London’s Leicester Square, after Spotify put her on the cover of their Fresh Finds playlist.
Having sold out headline shows at The Lexington and The Slaughtered Lamb in London in recent months, Nectar Woode has today announced her next headline show in the capital, to take place on March 14th at Omeara. Not to be missed, tickets are available from here.
