UK genre-bending artist MEI crafts an uplifting and anthemic record “See Us” for black women across the globe. The production here is a blend of future soul, hip-hop with experimental sensibilities that fits her uniquely distinct melodic style.

The song sees her embodying her blackness and femininity and driving home the message of being accepted and respected for who she is at all times. She is quite unapologetic and delivers an impassioned performance which culminates in an energetic switch up at the end. From the rousing drums, ethereal textures, and dynamic arrangement, MEI brings forth a plethora of sounds that showcases her versatility on all fronts.

“See Us” is the focus single from her forthcoming five-track EP.

“See Us is for the Black women demanding to be seen for who they truly are and to encourage all Black people that change is still possible,” says MEI. “I wrote See Us during the George Floyd protests last year. I felt so weary and heartbroken from all the social media posts, black squares and graphic videos circulating the internet. I had to delete my apps and take a break, so writing this song was my protest and my therapy. I hope it heals and re-energises. Sadly our fight continues but we can’t give up.”
