I almost missed this one but thanks to serendipity and digging senses I was luck to unearth this god-funky creation by MED & J.Rocc(Beatjunkies). Both men go together as Axel F (I notice the 80’s is coming back slowly) and ‘Sofa Coins‘ is a track off their EP Sofa Set. The track in question is a funky horn driven banger complete with J.Rocc’s signature scratches and all is reproduced live with the BTS band.

World Famous Beat Junkie and Stones Throw affiliate, J. Rocc, teamed up with Madlib collaborator and one of Oxnard’s finest, MED, for their group AXEL F. Their joint “Sofa Set” EP is currently out now via Bang Ya Head Entertainment and is the precursor to their upcoming full length album dropping later this year.

Recently AXEL F. joined the band Balance and the Traveling Sounds (BTS) at Backside Records in Burbank, CA to record, film and perform the lead single from the “Sofa Set” EP for the song “Sofa Coins.” With MED on vocals, J. Rocc on the turntables and Balance and the Traveling Sounds re-creating J. Rocc’s original production.
