Kicking off the campaign for his upcoming album, Kid Kold presents to us the video for his first single”Love It Here”. It’s the precursor to The Black Gang EP which also stars Philadelphia Freeway.
Kold said to have been inspired by Slum Village native Elzhi. The song, in essence, serves as a tribute to commemorate 10 years of J Dilla‘s passing.
Have a listen as he tells his story about growing up in Scarborough. From childhood friendships, video games and fist fights to deflated hoop dreams, robbery and the trife’s of life. Director Big Chase does an impressive job with the imagery and capturing the spirit of Toronto‘s east end. Skillfully seizing Kid Kold’s humble approach and message.
The Black Gang EP includes a remarkable guest list of artists including Beanie Sigel, Roc Marciano, Killah Priest, Lord Fury, Ghostface, Styles P and Sheek Louch. All of the production itself, being provided by DJ Mercilless. Stay in tune, as the compilation will be dropping this spring.
