Singer/producer James Chatburn starts off 2021 with the release of the video for his song “Why You Gotta Lie” taken from his recent LP Faible Teil 1 which was featured here. The laidback cut dives into individuals who lie compulsively and he explores their nature without finding a logical conclusion. Chatburn is sure in his element and delivers a soul-gripping performance ripe with soothing melodic runs over the dreamy soundscape.

The visual is directed by Shari Annabell Marks who makes use of a very peculiar setting and quick cuts to tap into the theme of the song. We get to see Chatburn go through a series of weird emotions and situations that allude to inner turbulence.
