Indie rapper J.D Genius’s newest single “I don’t want to be Black (CRT)” is a thought-provoking effort that reflects on the life of black folks in America. Bolstered by a somber piano-laden backdrop, the rapper shares unfiltered thoughts on institutionalized racism, disenfranchisement, culture, and the turbulent history of blacks in the states. He acknowledges the hand he has been dealt and seeks to address the elephant in the room in his own nuanced manner. Overall he wants listeners to know that they are not defined by their skin color.

J.D Genius is an Atlanta-based emcee.
