Japanese producer DBLHX (Double Helix), is not new to us and has been featured a handful of times on our top instrumental series. On his latest outing, he delivers a double feature that once again showcases his off-kilter, non-conformist style of production.

“Black Abyss” is the first one we got here and it’s a gritty punchy beat ripe with dusty piano riffs and cinematic sound designs that seamlessly blend into each other. Overall, it has a retro 90s boom bap feel with a modern experimental lo-fi vibe.”Black Abyss” is included in DBLHX’s third beat album Black Abyss.

The second beat titled “Dazzle U” follows a similar theme with its moody and gloomy sound designs and punchy boom-bap grooves. The production is quite dynamic and the transitions into different cinematic sections is quite novel and keeps listener’s locked in.
