Toronto, Canada based producer Day One caught our ears with his brand of experimental hiphop instrumentals. His newest venture is a double release that showcases his unique style.

The first cut on the decks is the punchy “Status” that fuses a bit of electronic/trip-hop and moody soulful vibes. From the lush and low tones, weird sound design, and crisp drums. Day One creates an enthralling piece that is both dynamic and groovy as well.

The second track we have is titled “Markup” and has a more eclectic and maybe off-kilter style. The drums are still punchy but his choice of instruments is pretty out of the box. Swirling synths, hits, and moody textures, and pulsating basslines are layered in a very gripping manner.

Both tracks are off his Quilts EP.
