As Australian trio daste. prepare for their new album dasteWORLD, they share with us the new single “Tide” and their new set of tour dates. The trio made up of Callum, Braxton and Tyler brings a refreshing take on the modern contemporary soul with a blend of lofi-pop, R&B and classic soul aesthetics. “Tide” is a perfect example of this fusion as it ticks many boxes, from the warmth of neo-soul, the emotional fury of R&B and the dynamic elements of experimental pop. The track explores the journey to break free from the rigid daily structure life can put one in and revels in the freedom of living outside these restraints. The melodies here are sublime, while lyrics like “Trying to find a space, to float away, cause I’m feeling nervous/Sand city’s underneath the waves, trying to find my escape/Trying to find a space, to float away, cause I’m feeling nervous” underpin this life-changing journey.
