NYC‘s Shan Poo aka BOY/FRIEND, makes proper introduction and a damn good first impression in the R&B world. What could be called the best R&B project of this past year (I’ve probably given this more listens than I did Frank Ocean‘s first project, Nostalgia, Ultra), Leather Weather is an addictive one. Fellow newcomer & exec producer of the 8-track LP, MNTN, packs a soft punch of soul with a certain wistfulness that’s pretty hard to keep an ear off of. Sweater Beats lends a hand with production on ‘No Habla’, my personal favorite next to ‘Good 2 You’. Due up next from BOY/FRIEND is a remix of the LP.
