Last Friday, the hip-hop community in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada got together for a special networking event. This was more than a concert on a Friday night, although it was certainly a good one.

I interviewed Junia T of Smash Brovaz – we did quite a few interviews over the course of the night and you’ll be able to hear them on the weekly Word is Bond Podcast over the next several weeks – and we had quite the discussion about hip-hop music, respectful lyrics, and music production, and also talked to Lee Reed about his extensive history in the Hamilton music scene. The amount of love in the building was incredible.

I hope that Beat Binjaz will continue to grow and develop the hip-hop scene in Hamilton. They have been bringing big name acts to the city for some time now and it’s obvious that they have a passion for the culture of hip-hop. It makes me proud of what we can do when we get together as a community.
