I’m sad to say I’ve fallen out of touch with Bakoda (or, as you might know him, Evan Awake) over the last few months but he’s made a welcome return back in to my tune rotation with ’21 Years‘. Dealing in the art of the hip hop instrumental, every track Bakoda delivers is rich in soul, and this sample flip with the warm drums does nothing to change that. He draws his inspiration from Nujabes, among others, and you can definitely feel that vibe (check out our interview with Evan from a while back to understand more of the man). This is in anticipation of an album – Sketchbook – coming on the August 1st. I can’t wait, and if you are the same have a flicker through Evan Awake’s YouTube channel; you won’t be disappointed.
