25 years ago history was made for the Hip Hop books…Ahsan The Golden Child along with Righteous M.O.B. Entertainment released the street tape, Art of Emceeing. This was the duo’s contribution to exposing new Hip Hop talent to the masses.
“Whether it was listening to Magic and Marley on WHBI prior to WBLS, Music Factory Record Store in Manhattan, Red Alert on Kiss, or copies of street tapes my ear was always to the ground. . I loved sharing what I found I would come to school and was like, yo there’s this new kid Milk D flowing over this ill version of Impeach the President.”
This ever-evolving passion from The Golden Child led to the development of the entertainment brand Righteous M.O.B. They launched the longest-running Hip Hop broadcast in New Jersey, The Blueprint Radio on WRSU FM which allowed them to showcase prolific talent at that time, and opened the door to create Art of Emceeing. Righteous M.O.B. Entertainment rented studio space alongside Echo Unlimited who assisted in worldwide distribution for the street tape to various Hip Hop shops, skate shops, record stores, clothing stores, as well as events, street teams, etc.
Fun fact, Art of Emceeing was one of the first artist-themed street tapes packaged that way prior to the late 90s and early 2000’s mixtape explosion…Legendary DJ Red Alert comes in strong with the intro for Art of Emceeing and sets the tone for an addictive dose of earmilk delivered by a sought out selection of elite emcees. The street tape features Black Lotus (Miz, Dreadman aka Sunny Arson, Drastic), Blackmel aka Supastion, Broken Home (Uncle Ed the Pervert and Manson), High Noon (Jahbatton aka Rootz & Kedar), Ill Represnters (Space and Digital aka Mr. Blogz), Knowledge, Marzuwg, Nemesis (Eloh Kush, Onom, Big Ciph), Scienz of Life (Lil Sci, ID 4 Winds, Inspector Willabee), The Fam (Kwa aka Glorious and Ja the Gift of Angelz Inc.), The Sorseris, and Warbucks (Shakim Khadifi, Cahoon, Dontego).
25 years later The Golden Child and Righteous M.O.B. Entertainment announce the digitally remastered Art of Emceeing available on Audiomack. The 35-track project is imbued with over an hour of boom-bap and classic NY melodies emanating a refreshing sense of nostalgia. Amid a time of growing uncertainty and doubt in our world, Art of Emceeing reminds us how powerful Hip Hop culture is and the unity it brings forward along with mind, body, and soul healing vibes.
