As Vocab Slick prepares for his long-awaited Language LP in October, he shares the stylish new video for “What It Is.” A lyric-dense cut that showcases Slick’s smooth flow and engaging lyrics over the bass-driven backdrop provided by producer Surebert.

The visuals are handled by Starski who makes use of solid performance shots of Vocab Slick as he talks his ish to the camera against moody lighting while BREEDSWORLD provides the necessary visual effects.

It’s a fitting setup for “What It Is,” primarily because the track itself does lean into the slightly darker side of the rapper’s mindset. With good reason, of course, because he’s clearly tired of all the BS, like other people trying to weigh him down with their unfounded opinions and criticisms. It’s just too bad for them that he’s too focused and well-equipped with lines like, “Truth is, I’m ruthless/ And known for overdoing anything I ever thought was worth pursuing/ Y’all foolish and clueless/ Prone to being stupid to ever think I’m nothing but superhuman, a mutant.”

The Language LP is due out Oct. 29 on all major DSPs via DR Music, which will be supported with a West Coast tour that’ll kick off on Nov 03 through the 20th. Tour schedule to be announced shortly.
