I came across this dude called tsuruda on Soundcloud (what a dope platform) just the other day when someone posted a collection of beats he had for sale. Now, I don’t know if any of these beats are suitable for MCs – but this is a compliment as their intricacy and production value are such that they simply bang by themselves. Even still, this is a crazy introduction to the L.A. man’s music, mixing trap stylings with heavy hip-hop vibes intertwined with mellow jazzy samples and fierce drums – I hear a lot of Nujabes vibes in there, but I don’t know if he’s a direct influence. There’s a mad variety of moods across these twenty minutes, genuinely full of superb neck-breaking material, something that really made me sit up and think this is someone different.
