Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

 

 

 

Anonimuss Rose – “Body”

Eclectic singer/songwriter Anonimuss Rose delivers this sultry piece titled “Body” to help kick off our video list this week. The singer unveils the curtains covering her desires, figuratively and literally on this sensual and unapologetic track made up of soothing and solemn textures. Her commanding vocals sure take precedence as they flow seamlessly with each melodic run and layered harmony. The visuals also ramp this up with its graphic approach that focuses on pure fantasy and sensuality between two individuals.

BlackLiq x Mopes – Therapy prod. by Mopes”.

 

BlackLiq and Mopes return with their newest visuals for the song “Therapy”. As the title suggests, it focuses on the delicate topic of depression and its intersectionality with art and life. As usual, BlackLiq delivers a solid and insightful performance that explores the subject with a nuanced and relatable viewpoint while Mopes excellent soundscape helps accentuate the emotions behind the message. The visuals are straightforward with its use of performance shots and subtle visual effects.

 

M-Dot – “Silver Bullet” prod. by Pro Knows Music”.

 

Veteran Boston lyricist M-Dot pours his heart out on the solemn track titled “Silver Bullet”. Over the moody and solemn backdrop provided by Pro Knows Music, M-Dot runs through the many dark times in his past and how he managed to stay afloat regardless. He sure doesn’t hold back his frustrations as he tackles the naysayers and detractors while reminding us of his determination to never give up. The visual style is quite engaging and makes use of live action and AI-infused images that tap into M-Dot’s emboldened spirit as a go-getter.

“Silver Bullet” is the final single before his long-awaited album egO anD The eneMy 2: A Dissolute Paradise. The new album drops this Friday 4/21 on Bandcamp (Pre-Order Digital + Collector’s Splash Vinyl) and on all DSPs 5/5.

 

 

D3X – “Vacations Matter”.

Emerging singer/songwriter D3X reminds us that “Vacations Matter” in his latest self-produced effort. The Philly-raised artist employs a stylish melodic flow and relatable lyrics as his forte over the bass-heavy and solemn backdrop laid before him. Inspired by his life where he was balancing a teaching job, a college degree and trying to launch his career and he came to the realization that he may need some time to detox and rest his mind. The visuals directed by Isaiah Thompson only communicate the vibes that birthed D3X’s laid-back bop. Shot along the coast of California, D3X strolls the Malibu beaches solo, taking in the sunset’s vibrant colours. The waves seem to roll in time with his bars, letting him know he’s in the right place to go off and cool off before he takes off and returns to the grind of daily life. “Vacations Matter” makes the perfect mini-retreat to listen to while you start planning your next getaway. Q Presents: – “NEVER QUIT”.

 

Multi-faceted artist Q Presents is a Canton, Ohio-based rapper, singer, songwriter, director, and record producer who is fully hands-on with his music. His newest release “NEVER QUIT” sees him in his element as he rides a smooth dreamy backdrop while reminding the listeners that he is next to watch. The song comes with a summer-tinged video that follows him around different spots.

 

Dax – “To Be A Man”.

Prolific rapper/songwriter Dax returns with this heartfelt single “To Be A Man” which dives into the struggles of being a man in this world. Over a solemn piano-laden backdrop, Dax runs through the experiences that many men can relate to as they strive to be better versions of themselves and their loved ones. The visuals also taps into the theme and follow the tale of a nearly broken man who is trying his best to be there for his family.

 

 

Shaun Hill x Kris Sobanski – “The Deep” prod. by Kris Sobanski (Video)”.

 

Providence, RI-bred artist Meta P now known as Shaun Hill helps close the list out with his new single “The Deep”, a rousing rock-infused track that dives into the daily struggles of a young man who is struggling with depression. With no help or aid in sight, he almost succumbs to the inner demons but slowly garners his inner strength to push through. The visuals shot by Levi Desantis are used as an allegory for his struggles and we see the artist literally fighting all of his demons in Rocky-esque fashion
