Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 5 Videos. This is a segment where we will be looking at some exceptional visuals from various acts from around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades and through the 90s and 2000s, it has really taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but rather highlight some of the creative visuals that pop up on our radar.

 

 

 

D’So Nyce – “Mo’ Pimpin”

D’So Nyce  shares visuals for “Mo’ Pimpin”, a smooth and bouncy track that captures his unique style and flow. The soulful texture and punchy drums provided by Brotha Gif blend perfectly with his bravado lyrics and suave pimp game. The visual is a mix of performance shots. The track is inspired by the classic track “Po Pimpin” by the legendary Chicago group Do Or Die.

 

 

 

99Drizzy – “Rich & Famous”

Emerging Nigeran rapper/songwriter 99Drizzy shares visuals for his aspirational tune titled “Rich & Famous”. The mellow but punchy tune sees him reflecting on his journey as an artist and his dreams to become successful despite all the odds set against him. The visual captures his laidback performance style and has some engaging motifs running through the video.

 

 

 

Akira Gautama – “westside

Singer/songwriter Akira Gautama is in high spirits as he drops the vibrant visual for his single “westside”. The track is upbeat and is a display of vivid lyrics from the LA-born rapper, The visual makes use of subtle special effects and performance shots that shows the rapper’s energetic style and bright demeanor. Akira Gautama (real name Nathan Scott) is currently based in the pacific northwest and is a composer/sound designer.

 

 

Hardbody Jones – “ENDORPHINS”

Hardbody Jones caught our eyes with the motif-driven visual for his song “ENDORPHINS”. The moody track is ripe with tune melodic runs and heartfelt lyrics about his own personal trauma and experiences. The visual takes viewers deep into his mind where zany and weird things take place.

Hardbody Jones is a Montreal-based singer/songwriter/audio engineer.

 

 

J Nolan – “Legal Hustle”

J Nolan  is all about his business in “Legal Hustle”. The anthemic tune is a collaboration between him and DJ Redhanded who help craft the perfect track needed to bring the message to life. J Nolan is in his element here as he breaks down his money-making endeavors in his own unique way.
