Welcome to TWIB’s Weekly Top 10 Videos. This is a segment where we look at some exceptional visuals from various acts around the globe. The music video format has been around for decades, through the 90s and 2000s, it has taken flight from multi-million budget music videos, to mid to low-budget videos with exceptional features. In this section, we will not discriminate but highlight some creative visuals that pop up on our radar.
Again, we promise to bring you the best from high to low budget, to animated to DIY and first and foremost, the most creative visuals we can source.

Udin – “Class In Session”

UK-based Nigerian rapper Udin returns with the visuals for his new single “Class In Session” which sees him teaming up with producer/DJ Teck-Zilla. The track is a heartfelt tribute to the core principles of hip-hop and sees Udin sharing his thoughts on how the game has changed for better or worse over a cinematic soundscape provided by Teck-Zilla. The visuals shot by George Benz are quite nostalgic and wholesome and capture a young kid as the lead character surrounded by retro hip-hop paraphernalia. The track is taken from Udin’s forthcoming project All in Good Time.

 

 

 

80purppp – “she want prada”

Genre-bending singer/songwriter 80purppp shares the visualizer for his new single “she want prada.” The modern soul/funk infused track has a tinge of R&B, funky production with a touch of dark soul vibes.

 

 

 

D. Lector & Don Junior – “Scary “Movies”

 

The duo of D. Lector & Don Junior thrill our ears and eyes with this graphic visuals for “Scary “Movies.” The horror-flick/Halloween-inspired track is built on a cinematic and brooding soundscape, and underpinned by lyrical gore of the highest order from both rappers. The video directed by Mike Squires also ramps up the fear factor with its eerie set pieces and visual representation of classic horror film villains ranging from Hannibal Lecter, the clown from IT, The possessed character from The Exorcist and many others.

 

TheRealYoungDC – “A Way Out”

TheRealYoungDC shares the visuals for the heartfelt tune “A Way Out.” The piano-driven track is a warm tribute to his late mother and it sees him reflecting on the lessons she taught him and how he feels lost without her guidance. The visual blends performance shots and showcases his fiery performance and emotional style.

 

Dax – Place Of Peace”.

 

Prolific songwriter/singer/rapper Dax pens a heartfelt song “Place Of Peace” which explores his experiences during a rough patch and the search for peace. The visual is quite engaging and well-crafted with its use of extensive visual effects and storyboarding techniques.

 

 

 

 

Ox Omni – “Angelic”.

 

Rising emcee Ox Omni unveils the visuals for his single “Angelic.” The 94Maax produced track boasts punchy drums and stylish flows from Ox Omni embodying the spirit of the go-getter who is focused on his goals. The visuals are shot by Gee who captures Ox Omni in his element.

“Angelic” is the lead single from his new LP No Prayers To The Devil, which is entirely produced by 94Maax.

 

 

Termanology & Tek – “Boom Bap Or Die”

 

 

 

Legendary emcees Termanology and Tek (of Smif-N-Wessun) have released their new collaborative project, Teknology, and they share the visuals for the song “Boom bap Or Die.” The Nottz-produced track has a cinematic vibe with pulsating synths with punchy bass-driven drums underpinned by fiery bars from the duo. Also joining them is rapper Flash who lends them his expertise. The visual blends performance shots with slick cinematic effects.
