NYC-based genre-bending musical band The Lesson GK team up with the legendary DJ Premier for a bouncy summer-tinged single titled “Boogie.” Led by drummer Lenny “The Ox” Reece, the band deliver an authentic soul-driven vibe with their unique style, and on “Boogie” listeners are treated to a smooth vibrant piece ripe with lush textures, pulsating basslines, and an excellent vocal scratched hook by Preem himself.

DJ Premier said of the collaboration, “I just love their whole movement! You can tell that the soul is in every player and musician that plays along..”  This statement is bolstered by The band’s secondary name “Gentei Kaijo” (Japanese for “limitation cancellation”) which perfectly captures the ethos of the fully improvised experimental hip-hop, jazz, R&B, funk, and progressive soul vibes they bring to the table.

“Boogie” is taken from the band’s forthcoming project Another World, to be released on June 25th via Jammcard Records. This will be the inaugural official release from Jammcard Records, a brand new arm of Jammcard, the Music Professionals Network, who announced the launch earlier this week.
