For those who might not have heard, Snoop Dogg not so long ago changed his name to Snoop Lion, released a reggae album and announced his conversion to Rastafarianism, all in one fell swoop. He’s made a lot of headlines – and been the source of a fair bit of mockery too – about his recent change in name, musical interest and philosophy.
I think though this tops it. Snoop has now released a compilation of electronic dance tracks under the name of DJ Snoopadelic. This is kinda sad, considering that he was at the top of the Hip Hop game not so long ago and is widely accepted as being a huge voice in music.
The headline is rather facetious. Is Snoop actually having an identity crisis; has he lost any direction in his life? Or is this a desperate attempt for headlines and to stay relevant? Would Hip Hop welcome him back?
