Australian rapper ShivMarlon is slowly building his reputation as an alternative hiphop act. His latest release “CONVERSE KICKS” sees him teaming up with fellow Australian rappers EVL.3VIL and WZDIM for a brutal verbal beatdown. The track is as ominous and cinematic as they come and starts off with a sample from the classic scene in The Wire where Omar comes through the trap houses making all the dealers scamper like rats escaping water. The track also uses Omar’s vocals as part of its instrumental which adds an engaging element to it. On the other hand, the trio of emcees hold their own and bring forth their respective styles riddled with wordplay and off-kilter rhyme schemes.
