Boom Bap Beats, Vol. 1 is a 6-track body of work from producer Riz OTB who makes his entry on our site. As the title suggests, it’s a collection of hard-hitting boom-bap-inspired beats laced with different musical elements ranging from soul/r&b and even experimental aesthetics.
The project opens up with “Passion”, a soulful boom-bap track ripe with lush guitar plucks, crisp horns, and warm melodic hums to boot. It’s quite rousing and punchy. The following record “Sunrise” has a somber and chilled feel, the guitars take precedence here and the airy vocal samples also add a nostalgic feel to it. In “Place I Go”, Riz OTB blends lush guitar riffs, soft vocal runs, and hard-hitting drums in a seamless manner. in “Sunday” he delivers a reflective and nostalgia-inducing feel with his layered dreamy soundscapes made up of crisp arpeggios, airy vocals, and jazz horns as well. The last two tracks “Time” and “Sunset” perfectly round up the body of work with their distinct sounds, the former is mellow and melancholic while the latter is made up of dusty guitar riffs and crunchy drum breaks that sound straight out of vinyls.
