John Forte was a producer for the Fugees during their most succesful period as a group. In the mid-90’s his record label hoped that they could make a similar impact with John. What happend next shocked much of his friends and family. John went to prison for life, guilty of large scale drug trafficking. Astonishingly, after serving only a few years of his sentence he found his name on a list of prisoners eligible for parole by George W. Bush. Seemingly his involvement with music and commitments to his community was enough to shorten his sentence. Now he is back he is releasing new music all the time. His latest single “Gone” is top quality and features some big names like Talib Kweli and AZ, check it out above.
