Alternative musician Nathan-Paul Music teams up with TyC and Gabe Jones for this brilliant experimental project entitled, Free Trap. The 4 track instrumental project takes elements from jazz trumpet progenitors like the late great John Coltrane and rock stalwarts like  Steve Vai, and a touch of modern music like the subgenre of trap.

The first track “Impulse” is a rousing piece that is so layered and dynamic from start to finish. The sax accompaniments are bolstered by rousing drum fills, cinematic textures, pulsating bass guitars and subtle textures that slowly build into a crescendo as the track progresses. The end part is the kicker and audiences are given a quick master class of live improv performance. This is followed by “Inflow”, a hard-hitting genre-bending track that infuses jazz horns, and trap drum grooves with the energy of rock. From the leading anthemic horns, rapid-fire drum fills, electric guitars and pulsating basslines, the track soars at intervals and closes out on a high note. The trap vibe and modern jazz theme continue with  “Control” featuring instrumentalist Tommy Lehman. The result is a cinematic and hard-hitting jam that showcases the power of collaboration and the unpredictability of genre-bending. The final track “Outflow”  employs downtempo drums laden with sizzling synth chords, pulsating bass synths with horns that bolster the high-end. The track is titled that for a reason listeners will get trapped in the progressive and non-conforming approach of production. The solo guitars add an edgy element to the track and peak toward the end.

Overall Free Trap, pushes the music boundaries and expectations of lovers of experimental instrumental tapes.
