Multi-faceted UK artist Mo Kolours makes his entry on our site with his latest effort titled “The News These Days”. The song is a blend of musical styles ranging from soul/funk/hiphop with a touch of contemporary jazz. Over a steady mid-tempo guitar-laden groove, sublime pads and warm textures, Mo Kolours reflects on the modern-day information overload and desensitization that has befallen us and how sometimes we might just need to unplug from the matrix to get a clearer picture.
The accompanying video employs subtle motifs that tap into the conditioning theme in the song and follows the artist as he goes about his daily activities and we also see how he finds a balance between the craziness of the world and the serenity of his own mind.
“The News These Days” is lifted from his forthcoming project entitled Original Flow’.
Original Flow is an album of UK street-soul nouveau, future indigenous jazz fusion, Rasta Segga, Nyahbinghi jazz, Malagasy Hebrew hip hop. While retaining a spirit of exploration and improvisation, it sees Deenmamode grow and flex beyond beat tape brevity, expanding composition and stretching his musical muscle to play live with other musicians. Themes of empowerment, overcoming adversity, and mental liberation coexist with notes from ancient history, futurism, and science, as well as musings on family and togetherness.
