Uprising rapper/singer/songwriter JD Genius delivers his new single “Slow down (Low Down)” to our site. The track has a soulful and sombre vibe with soft drums that blend with JD’s mix of melodies and insightful rap verses. The emcee takes us into the darkest moments of a young man’s life when one has to get by with having no money and doing whatever it takes to live through the day under the most dangerous conditions. Armed with a mellow but intentional cadence, JD gives us a glimpse into the rough life with lines like  “This prison, he call home, nightmares reside/I look in the mirror, reflections despise/too zooted to getting by,days passing in time, looking for a come up, they shooting while the sun up/I’m wishing they will to run up, I’m never putting my gun up“.

The record is quite thought-provoking as it sheds light on the harsh reality of being trapped in the hood and dealing with one’s inner demons in a not-so-positive manner.
