Swedish Hip-Hop/R&B artist/ producer/engineer Dyvaile unveils his latest project Beats regards. The 11-track body-of-work is a collection of beats inspired by emotions, feelings and experiences he accrued over the years and is a love letter to fans of instrumental projects.

As far as instrumental albums go, producers often either tack the beats to an overall concept/theme or in some cases, it could be a collection of beats from their back catalogue or tracks picked up from the cutting room floor. In Dyvaile’s case, it’s the former. The first track, “Bob’s Groove,” has a plucky guitar chop lifted from a reggae sample and clunky drums while “Having Drinks at the Saloon” is bolstered by a prevalent pulsating bassline and an atmospheric synth riff that soars into a bouncy beat in the middle part.  On n tracks like “Beneath an Oak” and “House of Crystal,” Dyvaile dazzles listeners with his elective musical style made up of off-center syncopated drum grooves and extensive use of plucky synths with atmospheric aesthetics and excellent sample chopping techniques. The former evokes nostalgia and warmth while the latter blends electronic and soulful elements.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Dyvaile shows range with his production style. From fairly mellow beats like “Procrastination “ or the sullen vocal samples that drive “Long Lastin’ longin’,“ audiences are in for a trip.  for one he doesn’t overproduce these tracks with speaker-bursting effects but keeps things simple from start to finish.  I did enjoy the warmth and nostalgia-inducing feeling of “Whimsical” but also how he switches up his beats on Goawai”  and “Comin’ with Good News.” “Goawai”  is anchored on a vocal sample and warm reflective texture with punchy drums, while “Comin’ with Good News” feels like a soulful seance with its laidback, sparse drums and airy textures.  The final track “Sharp Words” evokes bitter-sweet emotions with a hinge of contentment and helps bring the project to a fulfilling end.

Overall, Beats regards is well-crafted, cohesive and enjoyable from start to finish. Another dope track I recommend is “Unexpected Experience,” an off-beat sample-driven beat with glitchy elements, and summery vibes with beat-box-esque drums.
