Rising DMV artist Deuce Double delivers his new project, Bammas Pretend, an 8-track project that showcases Deuce Double’s impassioned flow and distinct style over booming soundscapes.

“Double Digits” is a cranked-up bass-heavy trap jam that invites listeners into Deuce’s world where he is taking steps to be the man and secure what he deserves. he flows effortlessly over the bouncy backdrop with a choppy flow and somewhat nonchalant demeanour while detailing how he saves up his coins while detractors get shelved away. “Feedback ( El Pollo RICO Charge)” is a somewhat playful tune that talks about implicating oneself in street business. It has a mid-tempo and fun-filled vibe coupled with Deuce’s off-center autotune vocals singing “A RICO charge, nigga it won’t get you far” in the most playful manner. The moral of the story is to make smart decisions and avoid rats. Next up is a thick flute-driven track “Bammas Pretend” that once again showcases Deuce’s distinct melody-driven hooks and impassioned flow. Here, he takes us back to his days when he started his music journey in the DMV. From starting his record label to dealing with traitors and weaving through the deceptive music industry, Deuce gives listeners a glimpse into his life.

In “Got That Fire” he teams up with Oogie Leo who starts off the track with a smooth melodic performance over the rich and soulful soundscape laid before him. The track centers on the feminine allure of the women in their lives. Deuce pours adulation on that lady who catches his eye and details what he wants to do to her with a dash of cheekiness. This is followed by the cinematic “BOSS talk (Hot Ice)”, the aptly titled track is a proclamation of some sort and we get the go-getter side of the man called Deuce. The flow is energetic and the use of adlibs and a commanding hook works well. “Time Is Money” is a collaboration with K.i.$ and it’s another energetic aspirational tune that reminds listeners to avoid detractors and fake ones who try to shift their focus.

The project closes out with two remixes for the songs “Double Digits“ and “Bammas Pretend“.  The latter is Southwest Version featuring Lightshow who comes through with an edgy verse to close it out. The former is called the Northwest Version and features DMV rap luminary Uptown XO, and the result is a brilliant track that continues the DMV hip-hop tradition.

The overall project is a solid body of work that is cohesive and sticks to it’s original theme from start to finish.
