Video Accomplished guitarist and instrumentalist David Laborier returns with a brand new release titled “Owl Skewl.” The track blends different forms of music, from contemporary jazz and soft rock to old-school hip-hop aesthetics, in one fell swoop. He leads with rousing guitar riffs that cut through the mix like a hot knife through butter and laces it with anthemic jazzy horns, underpinned by punchy hip-hop-inspired drum breaks. The result is an enthralling piece that is dynamic, edgy and off-kilter. The title is a play on the word old school and also a homage to his daughter’s favourite Harry Potter character, Snowy Owl, Hedwig.
The song comes with a conceptual visual that follows Laborier as he goes through different learning activities, but in the end he has to find himself by being true to his core being.
