Southern California sweet soul outfit The Charities is a six-member outfit led by lead vocalist Brock Van Pelt.  Being an integral part of the modern West Coast soul movement, they frequently share stages and sonic spaces with genre heavyweights like Thee Sacred Souls and Thee Sinseers and are on a similar career trajectory.

The outfit’s latest release “Movin’ On” is a heartfelt, bittersweet piece that highlights the band’s versatility and layered instrumentation. Written by longtime collaborator and producer Anthony Masino, the track highlights rich melodic runs, heartfelt songwriting and dynamic arrangements that are steeped in retro soul with a dash of 70s summery vibes. The lyrics are straightforward and dive into emotional pain that comes with letting go. Singer Brock Van Pelt doesn’t mince his words and pours his all on wax with raw emotion as he takes listeners on the classic breakup story where life has to restart on renewed hope after a loss.

The release continues The Charities’ growing relationship with Colemine Records, following the success of their acclaimed label debut and further establishing the band as one of the leading new voices in contemporary soul. Hailing from California’s Central Coast, The Charities blend the elegance of 1960s sweet soul with elements of funk, R&B and gospel, creating a sound that feels both reverent and refreshingly current. Their lush vocal harmonies, heartfelt songwriting and vintage-inspired recordings have earned them a devoted following among soul fans worldwide.
