The good folks at Coalmine records hit us up with this solid remix of C.L Smooth & Skyzoo collabo titled Perfect Timing. It’s beyond me that besides his work with Pete Rock, C.L smooth has just one solo effort and his collabos are far and in between. I can only imagine if he went the same route as Guru a’la Jazzmatazz series or something. C.L smooth definitely has one of the most unique delivery and vocal tone in the game just like his moniker. This team up is definitely worth every second plus the groovy nostalgic backdrop by producer Max I Million makes it even more brilliant than ever.

Just listening to this makes me reminisce about the 90s as a young impressionable kid who was fortunate to have hip siblings, the days of Yo MTV Raps, Rap city etc, the boombap era where Primo (I wasn’t consciously aware of him then) and Pete Rock reigned. Sweden’s Max I Million chefs up a smoothed out remix for Coalmine Records’ classic cut, “Perfect Timing,” which features both C.L. Smooth and Skyzoo. Adding to the remix, we find DJ Devastate contributing a soulful, yet razor sharp scratch chorus to replace the original hook. The single, which was first released in ’08, and originally produced by Australia’s M-Phazes, is now available on 45 in limited quantities, exclusive for Record Store Day. Please note that only the original version (main and instrumental) are featured on wax.
