Black Borough is a Liverpool-based hip-hop group made up of MC Nelson, Dayzy, and Starkey who are bringing something new and refreshing to UK hip-hop. The group started working together cohesively after they supported KRS-One at the Liverpool arts club on his return of the Boom bap tour in November 2022. Blending jazzy elements into their rap repertoire and their relatable songwriting, the trio are definitely the ones to watch and their new single “Time” is another testament to the fact. The laidback tune is a smooth blend of jazzy piano chords, sublime melodic vocal samples with soft drum grooves that are reminiscent of Slum Village mixed with a bit of ATCQ. The emcees surely deliver the goods as they play around with the concept of time and trade bars weaving different thoughts on the topic with insight, reflection and uplifting elements that give listeners a glimpse into the past, present and future of their lives.

“Time” is the closing track on Black Borough’s debut self-titled EP. Stream it here.
