It’s always refreshing to see how emcees can use their art to reaffirm their stance on important issues as opposed to the ‘typical’ hip hop topics. And yes, while we do have a plethora of rappers who do this, sadly we never hear much of them as they get drowned in a sea of 808s and rolling snares. ‘Deep Sea’, a song from Awkword dealing with the use and abuse of our precious waters, may be too much for those with low attention spans and carefree attitude but realistically we need more of this type of enlightenment every now and then.

The joint is produced by C Lance by the way, who laces a serene canvass for Awkword to drop some gems.

Rapper, activist, and sociologist AWKWORD teams up with heavyweight independent hip hop producer, C-Lance, to make an exclusive World Oceans Day song brought to you by The Ocean Project.

100% of proceeds from this song go towards further catalyzing World Oceans Day as an opportunity to rally the world for action!

“Deep Sea” is a breath of fresh air, raising attention to the need for protecting our oceans and making a call to action. Addressing issues such as pollution and climate change, AWKWORD’s rhymes are relevant and on point. His impeccable cadence flows perfectly over C-Lance’s smooth beat, motivating the listener to take positive action for conservation. This unique track is not to be missed!
