Shabaam Sahdeeq is a name heads will recognize as he sure brings back the memories of the erstwhile hip-hop power house called Rawkus records. One of my favorite cuts of his is the Lee Stone-produced ‘WWIII‘, which also had Pharoahe Monch doing his thing. The man kinda went of the grid for a minute but he has been slowly putting out work in the underground scene for quite a while now and now he teams up with the unpredictable producer Alterbeats on this thumping, piano loop-driven cut ‘Stop it‘. Shabaam Sahdeeq touches all bases on this one, dropping jewels and delivering diatribes to fakers alike. The video is pretty simple with some interesting animation and pristine cuts from DJ Tricks. Need I say more?

Rawkus Records will always be remembered for being pivotal in the development of Hip-Hop at the turn of the century. Now cherished for showcasing acts such as Mos Def and Talib Kweli, the label was adamant in representing all of their artists, including the diamond-in-the-rough Shabaam Sahdeeq. Although the legendary label is a relic of the past, the “Arabian Nights” emcee hasn’t let that stop his ability to spit a few bars on the independent scene. Shot in a bright and fluid style on location throughout Kings County, “Stop It” has Sahdeeq calling out those who are only in the game to chase fame. “Stop It” is one of the many bangers featured on Alterbeats recently released sophomore album Class Struggle, which is now available for purchase via iTunes and Fat Beats.
