ADUM⁷ f/k/a Meccagodzilla is not new to TWIB and has over the years provided us with his brand of unorthodox production from sampling 80s cartoons (Jem etc) to classic anime (Hokuto no ken) amongst other things. He is also a solid emcee in his own right so do take time to look up his discography when you get the chance to. His latest project  titled “Wakanda Forever”  is quite ambitious, interesting and definitely worth checking out.  The project in question is a tribute to the recently released Black Panther movie and sees ADUM⁷ crafting 7 hard hitting beats paying homage to his favorite characters in the film and then some.

ADUM⁷  sheds some insight into the creation of the EP below

While taking the film in, it’s hard to not think about black excellence and how things could be if some of our movements were not infiltrated and destroyed.  It also makes me think about all of our current grassroots movements that have amazing core ideals and missions. Many of them are on the verge of greatness that can be scale not just in the local community but globally…all it takes is just a few more resources to level up further and have a scalable social impact worldwide. This film really triggered that parallel for me.  There’s a ton of work to be done but the sense of the power of community and collective efforts in this film are keys that I look forward to seeing actualized in our own community off screen.”

The 7 song instrumental EP traverses a multitude of dynamics and emotions. From the suspense filled “Killmonger” which serves as the opener to the head nodding “Panther Palm 2 (Nakia)”, he even takes it back to the motherland with the tribal grooves on the title track “Wakanda Forever (Okoye)”. The Ep is short but there is definitely something for everyone to vibe to here. The EP is free but there is always good in giving and if you do pay for it, a portion of the proceeds will go to  Black Girls Code.  Black Girls Code is a not-for-profit organization that focuses on providing technology education for African-American girls.
