Bolstered by her rich vocals and AI-assisted soundscapes, she delivers a touching piece about emotional needs that matter rather than superficial ones. Indie rapper Jaw Rhythm looks at what true “Change” can be in his newest release. Over a soulful, upbeat backdrop, the emcee shares his experience with life’s pressures, which have built his character, and retorts that he would do it all over again the same way. “Walls Down” is a heartfelt tribute to love by upcoming rapper Catch Rek. Backed by a modern neo-soul/hip-hop infused backdrop, the emcee details the process of finding that special one who completes you. “Walls Down” is the third single off Catch Rek’s album Blind Faith, which was recently released on April 26th. Keem Da Great goes for gold in the aptly titled “Game 7.” The track is about cutting distractions and pulling one’s weight to make the dream come true. The production is scenic and evokes urgency while Keem’s aspirational-filled lyrics set the stage. Emerging rapper/songwriter Kid Juice enters this week’s playlist with “Devil.” The reflective track is filled with insightful and thought-provoking themes that dive into inner conflict, self-doubt and the difficult process of growth.
Joznez connects with Easy McCoy and Black Prez for “Don’t Bet Against Me,” an energetic jam that is filled with confidence and focus. The production is punchy and triumphant, and sets the tone for the emcees’ edgy rhymes, expressive flows underpinned by aspirational and motivational themes. Provurb brings pure “Joy” in his new release. Backed by the classic Mary J Blige instrumental, the emcee steps into the podium with a feel-good demeanour and reminds us to let our hair down. Khern$ takes it to the max in his new release “Dreamcast”. The track is a celebratory release following his album drop and finds the rapper in his element, showing focus over a dark, cinematic backdrop. This is pure confidence and bravado. Decksterror brings a host of emcees for the unveiling of “The Golden Eagle.” The single sees the prolific producer teaming up with Juga-Naut, Micall Parknsun, Teach Em and Montener the Menace for a no-holds-barred lyrical onslaught. Over a classic jazz-infused boombap backdrop, the emcees go in tandem, each with their own rhyme style, paying homage to the classic 90s hip-hop sounds. “The Golden Eagle” is taken from Decksterror’s Love & Honour LP. Vancouver, B.C.-based multi-instrumentalist/singer/songwriter Matt Storm returns to our site with “words don’t describe.” The track is a laidback piece that draws on 90s psych rock and contemporary pop, with a unique twist. Storm employs a plucky bassline, a jazzy guitar riff, and soft downtempo grooves to back up his hushed, sultry vocal runs. The track explores the moment when words fail to express one’s true emotions, and an alternative medium must be used. The track is the second single from his upcoming album. Indie rap artist Dylan Owen blends the raw poetic qualities of rap with folk/pop in his latest release, “Don’t Trip.” Backed by a solemn acoustic guitar lick, Owen explores the fleeting nature of life and how we are bound by experiences, feelings, and the comforts and nostalgia they offer. At the end of it all, he reminds us that it will all fade away, so don’t trip. This is the second single off Dylan’s upcoming DO BETTER MIXTAPE.
Indie NY-based rapper D.O.C the Practitioner bares the truth about the industry and life in general in his new release “pay to play.” Here, he breaks it down in a frank manner, reminding everyone that you have to pay one way or another to play in the game of life. Paris, France-born singer/songwriter Alex Dion debuts on our site with “Ride,” a future R&B/hip-hop-infused cut that highlights the power of versatility. The production is arresting and dynamic, from the lush synths, smooth horns and fluid drum grooves, while Dion’s vocal performance adds the icing on the cake. Mike Coppa reminds us that “Dis Shit Different” for him as he steps up to the podium to claim the very thing he worked hard for. Over an anthemic backdrop of dark stings and brass stabs, with punchy drums, the emcee details how he built success brick by brick and the power of resilience to overcome the odds. Emerging rapper S. Polk is thinking bigger than his surroundings in “Grand.” The guitar-laden track has a laidback, solemn feel and finds the rapper reflecting on his life and the decisions he made to move himself ahead. The overarching message is to visualize one’s goals and actively pursue them rather than just dream. Teefa is not holding back, and on her new single “Downtime,” she brings a special verbalized attack on unsuspecting foes. Over a militant drum groove and menacing strings, the emcee showcases her lyrical dexterity with multis, expressive cadences, and wordplay that would make rap lovers smile. Singer/songwriter Rickia‘s latest release, “The Truth,” is a modern take on early 2000s R&B/hiphop infused sounds. Backed by a soulful backdrop of vocal runs, lush piano riffs, and a sturdy drum groove, the emcees share their thoughts on brotherhood and the long-lasting friendships that redefine one’s character.
