Salt Lake City rapper 1 Alone come through with his new project titled Reflections of Adversity, an 11-song body of work that explores his life from different perspectives with a lot of nuances and relatable motifs. The project starts off with “Addiction” a candid look into his own struggles and inner demons. This is followed by “When The Sunsets (Freestyle)”, a synth-driven trap banger that showcases his braggadocio side. On the guitar-laden “Wasted Away” he teams up with Adam Banx for a summer-tinged tune that explores the crazy life of chasing dreams and partying on the side.
It’s not all fun and games as seen on “Heartbreak”, a moody sombre tune that sees the rapper reflecting on the dark side of love and the hopes of making it to a good place after all the turmoil and stress. On “Relapse no.8 (Interlude)”, he switches the vibe with a cinematic hard-hitting soundscape and heartfelt storytelling of his trials and tribulations. He acknowledges his faults and bad decisions and takes agency in order to change his destiny. The project closes out with “Live4”, which starts off with a melancholic piano riff and slowly builds up into a moody track ripe with punchy drums. The track sees 1 Alone finding himself between the rock and the hard place as people overlooked him and said he won’t amount to nothing but he proceeds to prove them wrong by taking charge of his affairs and pushing through the doldrums with determination and perseverance.
Other notable tracks include the introspective “Virtues” and the soul-searching lyrics of “Look What I’ve Become”
