West coast critical favourite Blu jumps on the new single from Germany’s Klaus Layer, out now on Redefinition Records.

With the sample source as iconic as it is within the genre, you’ve got to know your way around a beat machine in order to make something inscrutable out of it at this point. If you’ve been keeping up though, you’ll know Klaus Layer is on a first name basis with dope beats.  With summery strings and thick bass lines threaded through explosive snares, this track was undoubtedly conceived to be blasted through cars and house windows in every sun-baked urban residential area. Add in a modern great on the mic, and you’ve got some serious shit on your hands; lesser emcee’s will be left fraught as Blu pulls rank to let them know who’s the “Illest In Charge”.

The single is out now on flexi-disc vinyl, and will feature on Klaus’ upcoming debut LP The Adventures Of Captain Crook out this summer on Redefinition Records. Expect nothing less than a kaleidoscopic-vintage-surreal-boom-bap masterpiece when that drops. Until then, keep your eyes on WIB for more updates on Klaus and Redef.
