It won’t be fair not to show love to the cats that work behind the boards. Cats whose soundscapes help push hip-hop to loft heights. So in the same vein, this weekly list sheds light on budding and even established producers who continue to push the envelope for the culture. So sit back relax and get familiar with these producers.

Dr.Mechanic – EBONY STREET

Dr. Mechanic kicks off the list with a magnificent boom-bap head nodder titled “Ebony Street”. Complete with a warm bassline and soulful vocal samples to match. Pretty dope and its something worth bumping all day long. get it on Spotify and Bandcamp

 

 

Bmbu – Blue Period

John Alsace (aka Bmbu), is a Music Producer based out of Philadelphia, PA. and he debuts on out Top 5 with a retro-jazz tinged beat he calls “Blue Period”. Using hard-hitting breaks, smooth jazz flutes, and a thick bassline to complete the cipher.

He’s released 13 solo albums, four collaborative beat tapes w/ FortuneWEST, and produced albums for hip-hop artists from around the globe.

ECTO-84 – Firehouse

Ecto-84 drops a dope beat for us to vibe to titled “Firehouse”. The track starts off with a snippet from the classic first Ghostbusters movie and progresses into a mellow, laid-back jazz infused soundscape that is both surreal and soothing.

 

 

Tactilian – drip streams

Tactilian returns with a heavy one in the form of this new beat he calls “Drip Streams”. He blends dreamy vocals and soundscapes over a hard-hitting drum backline. Get it on Spotify and Bandcamp.

 

 

Seb Zillner – Thirty One.

Seb Zillner delivers a smooth produce titled “Thirty One”. The outcome is pure dopeness as the instrumentalist teams up with producer Handbook for the assist. proficient in the use of the Saxophone, Flute, and Duduk, he combines these instruments with the hip-hop backdrop provided by Handbook.

“Thirty One” is a song off his debut album ZILLNER which brings together talented producers from several genres and the foundations of the language of jazz to enhance beats. Get the audio HERE
