Rising Afro-fusion artist Tim Lyre is currently working on his forthcoming EP, MASTA and in the interim, he shares his fourth and final single “Why Evils” featuring award-winning singer-songwriter Tay Iwar. The Ronehi-produced track is a mix of introspection with a touch of bravado as Tim digs deep into his own thoughts and gives us a glimpse with lines like “I don’t run out of tricks/The kids did it for clicks/I just did it for clicks like I’m Jet Li/And if e really sure for you, oya bet me/ I’mma have the place jumping like it’s envy“. Joining the fray is vocalist Tay Iwar who ponders on his own humanity and how he balances the dark and light patches of life.

Overall, the track is an engaging piece that shows a seamless blend of styles and sounds between Western Africa and Contemporary R&B and a dash of hip-hop.

Tim Lyre has been making music from a young age, trained in classical piano; he also plays the Guitar, Organ, and Bass. He is best known for his acclaimed debut album ‘Worry < (pronounced ‘worry less’), released in March of 2022, a project that instantly cemented itself as a cult classic in the Alté scene. His music always showcases his profound versatility, taking in elements of Hip-hop, Dancehall, Amapiano, R&B, and Afrobeats through his afro-futurist gaze. Tim’s forthcoming EP ‘MASTA’ was created between his hometown of Lagos and his acquired home in London. ‘Chasing Wind’, ‘Confess’, and ‘Tighter’ taken from the project have developed an appetite for more music and garnered support from COLORS, MTV Base, BBC Radio 1Xtra, Rinse FM, Reprezent, and The Beat amongst others. So far in his musical journey, Tim has collaborated with Prettyboy DO, Lex Amor, MOJO AF, and Lady Donli with Tay Iwar, Minz, Khanyisa and UK rapper Jords now joining him on ‘MASTA’ and this evolving collaborative list.
