Federal Way, Washington-born rapper/producer Shug Hzy caught our attention with his brand of music that is steeped in real-life experiences and relatable topics ranging from self-discovery, the never-ending journey of life and the ups and downs that come with finding one’s true purpose. In his latest release “Progress”, Shug takes us into his world with vivid detail as he details his continuous progression and discovery of self. Over the warm and soothing soundscape, Shug pours his heart on wax with lines like “A rose growing through the concrete is where you find me/My music’s always been my therapy, never a hobby” and leaves us with something to ponder as the search continues.
