For #DillaDay, the Red Bull Music Academy released this short video of Questlove speaking on how J Dilla instructively chops down a beat, by using Roy Ayers‘ Ain’t Got Time sample for Black Star‘s Little Brother. He clearly displays how both songs sounds so much alike, but yet reminds the audience that the timing of his production was way before ProTools. So, you can only imagine how crazy it is that Dilla was way before his time.. and this video showcases it, thanks to Questlove.
