Young and upcoming Chicago-based emcee Olanre‘s newest cut ‘Misunderstood’ illustrates the gritty urban life and its consequences using different examples in story form. The young man takes a step in using his music to stray away from the negativity associated with Chi town and goes a positive route with this one.

I can only expect more and greater things from Olanre if he keeps to this lane.

17-years-old. Born and raised on the North Side of Chicago. Being an aspiring basketball player, Kanye would change all of that at the age of 8 with “Jesus Walks”. He is definitely the reason music is a big part of my life. The first song I’ve fell in love with as a kid was “Gold Digger”. I would have the radio by day and night waiting for them to play it. I wouldn’t go to sleep without hearing it one last time before going to sleep. As I grew, I would eventually learn of similiar artists like Jay, Nas, and Biggie and grow to love them as well. With the music scene changing over the years from Lupe to Chief Keef style rap, I aim to bring hip hop to the scene of Chicago. No more “Chiraq” nonsense to fill the city with negativity. I believe with the power of my music I can change the mentality of young kids from guns and violence in general.
