Kootenay, BC-based trio Oh Pray Tell caught our ears with their brand of roots, gospel, acoustic R&B, folk, and experimental folklore. Comprising three talented ladies, Sally Titasey, Shayna-Adjowa Jones, and Betty Supple, the trio deliver the visuals for their new single “Poor Black Woman Blues.” The track is an emotionally powerful piece that highlights the struggles of the black woman and the internal resilience that continues to give her strength through the hardships and turmoil of the world. Backed by a rustic guitar riff and live percussion, the trio deliver a resounding vocal performance ripe with profound lyrics and storytelling that tugs at the heartstrings.
Far from being a sob story, the lyrics also explore the power of reclamation and agency in a world where nothing is given, and the accompanying visuals bring the track to life with its motif-driven approach.
Originally formed in 2015 as a stomp/clap harmony duo by lifelong collaborators Betty Supple and Sally Titasey, Oh Pray Tell’s evolution into a trio began in 2021 when multidisciplinary spoken word artist Shayna-Adjowa Jones discovered their work and reached out to collaborate. Shayna officially joined the group in 2024, completing the trio’s unique artistic alchemy. Following the release of their debut EP in February 2026, Oh Pray Tell are currently recording their first full-length album, set for release in February 2027.
