Natural Selection are back at it with this new EP called Rawganic, a five track project that is not quite what you may expect judging from the title. You may have (if not then you should) seen the video to the upbeat single Got That which gave you a glimpse of what to expect but that was just a tip of the ice berg. Soundwise the duo venture a whole different route, pulling elements from 80s hip-hop, electronica, dustup and anything else beyond the norm. The first two joints have similar vibe and both are quite edgy, while the third track (‘Box cutter’) has a more mellow, ethereal feel; really atmospheric to some extent. The last two joints vary from mid tempo to really laid back and brings out what I think is the best part of the project. I can appreciate the amount of work put into this and the experimentation is quite interesting (it may not be easily digested by some but hey, deal with it).
