Indie NY artist Maurice Smith found hip-hop growing in the Bronx area and proceeded to record some tracks earlier in his career and he hasn’t looked back since. His latest effort titled “No Justice No Peace” is a politically charged piece that talks about systemic racism, police brutality and the trials and tribulations of being black in America. Over a jazz-infused backdrop made up of melodic scats, anthemic brass lines and a classic drum break, he delivers a poignant and heartfelt message for us to dwell on. Joining him on the track is fellow NY lyricist Mickey Factz who adds his own 2 cents to the matter.
