Emerging Norwegian singer/songwriter Mathilde Widding‘s sixth release “Spells Me Under” is a soul-stirring jazz-soul-infused single that explores gloomy feelings of being stuck in the doldrums. Armed with a rich and commanding vocal tone, Mathilde details the painful emotions that range from inner pain, self-doubt, depression and sadness all at once. Backed by the moody and cinematic production, she delivers a resounding performance ripe with engulfing melodies and heartfelt, vivid lyrics like
“Down down losing my mind
Puts me on the spot
Blue shade ain’t a loving kind
Oh Watched the magic to its end
Crying my tears… down, down
Once again
Down once again”
